Ashura is important especially for the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain and his family members at Karbala located in Iraq. This day is considered as one of the most woeful days of Islamic history.
How Muharram is observed?
Muharram month is observed from the 1st day of this month by Muslim community. It is recommended to the Muslims to observe fasting on this month. Muslims observe fasting for whole month especially on Ashura every Muslim observe fasting. 10 Muharram is observed as a public holiday by most of the Muslim countries. Some Muslims also arranges procession on Muharram month.

On 1 Muharram Hazrat Ammasaheb Bibi Habiba Qadri was died.
2 Muharram
On 2 Muharram Hussein ibn Ali, grandson of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W) entered into Karbala and established camp.
7 Muharram
On 7 Muharram by Yazid’s order access to water was banned to Husayn ibn Ali, grandson of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W).
10 Muharram
On 10 Muharram grandson of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) Hussein ibn Ali received martyrdom in Battle of Karbala. This day is called Ashura.
15 Muharram
15 Muharram is the birth anniversary of Islamic scholar Mohammad Sirajuddin Naqshbandi.
25 Muharram
On 25 Muharram 4th Shia Imam Zayn al-Abidin received martyrdom.
27 Muharram
Mesum village was killed on the day of 27 Muharram.
28 Muharram
28 Muharram is the death anniversary of great sufi saint Urs of Ashraf Jahangir Shemnani.
